All About Tallow
Why Tallow?
For centuries, tallow has been one of nature’s most powerful moisturizers — used by generations who valued simple, time-tested skincare that actually worked. At Lady May, we’re proud to carry that tradition forward with our clean, small-batch tallow crafted right here in the U.S.
Pure, Pasture-Raised Goodness
Our tallow is made from beef fat sourced from cattle raised on pasture across the United States. Each batch is wet-rendered — a process that gently purifies the tallow without stripping away its natural nutrients. The result? Odorless, ultra-nourishing tallow that’s rich in bioavailable vitamins A, B12, D, E & K and skin-loving fatty acids that help soften, repair, and deeply moisturize your skin.
No “Beefy” Smell — Just Clean, Natural Skincare
We get this question a lot — and no, our tallow does not smell like beef. The wet-rendering method completely removes any scent while preserving all the good stuff your skin craves.
A Little Goes a Long Way
Tallow melts right into your skin barrier. Start with about a penny-sized amount and let it absorb — your skin will feel hydrated, not greasy.
For Every Skin Type
Even oily or acne-prone skin benefits from tallow. When skin is stripped of natural oils, it overproduces sebum. Using our whipped tallow helps balance moisture, soothe irritation, and promote a healthy glow.
How to Store
Keep your tallow in a cool, temperature-controlled spot (68°–74°F). If it hardens or softens with the weather, don’t worry — it’s still perfectly good.
Rooted in Sustainability
We believe in honoring the whole animal. The tallow we use comes from suet — the pure fat surrounding the kidneys and loins — sourced from sustainable farms that practice ethical care and nose-to-tail craftsmanship. It’s skincare inspired by how our grandmothers made use of every good thing the land provided.
